China - Day 28

Just to let all of you know. We have not really been able to connect to the internet much these past three days. So, I have posted what we have done these past three days today, sorry though, still no pictures yet.

Well, this is was our last full day in Beijing. We are going to be flying out tomorrow at ten in the morning. Today was mostly filled with shopping and spending time with friends here. We shopped a little in the morning. We went to the same market we went to one of the same markets that we went to last time we were here. It is the place where my Danny got his jacket and my mom got her scarves. We had lunch with the Huangs and then dinner with the Robbs.

We got out of the apartment pretty late today. I don’t know exactly, but around 10:00am. We got to the shopping place at 10:30, and were picked up there at around 12:30 for lunch. Danny got a new jacket because he lost the other one. My dad got two jackets because he wanted one like Danny’s and he wanted a thin one as well. We also got one suitcase for stuff that we have seemed to accumulate.

We had lunch at a hotel restaurant that was close by. It was a really nice place. We had our own room in the place. The room had a big table, a little lounge area with couches, a tv, and a private clean bathroom (something you rarely see in China).

I had a new food at lunch today. It was bright pink, and no one on my side of the table seemed to know what it was for a while. It almost looked like tentacle or something. It was cut thin, and there were little bumps on one side. Well, it was not tentacle. My dad said it was tripe, or cow stomach. Yummy! It had some peppers or something on it, and I have no real comparison as to the taste. I do know that it triggered the “Get that stuff out of my mouth” reaction again. It seems all the slightly crazy foods, save for cow toungue, trigger that reaction.

After that, all the girls got on their dresses and got ready for their tea party. So, we all squeezed into the car, and the guys got dropped off at our apartment to pack (like that would happen) and all the girls went to their little party.

They had a fun time there. I heard that they had the whole spot pretty much to themselves. There was even a pianist there playing all those fun tunes. As soon as they were done, the pianist left, and the people started coming in. So, that worked out quite nicely.

After that, we got dropped off at the metro station to go have dinner at the Robbs house. So, we had a very nice time there, talking and eating (the eating was good). We had good ole’ pasta with chicken and some vegitables, cabbage, and some whole grain bread. It reminded be of somethin we would have back at our house in the US.

We were there from 7:30 to about 10:30, and everyone was talking the whole time. Sometimes, everyone was trying to talk at the same time, maybe more often than not :) We had a nice time cathing up though.

We said “Good bye!” and took the metro and a taxi back to our apartment. Our time must now be filled with packing, which, I suppose, I should be doing. I’m sure we are going to have a great time haging out in Hong Kong, which is what we plan on doing. I am going to, hopefully, upload all the photos from these past days tomorrow. The internet we have here we have to pay for by the minute, and uploading can take awhile. Any how, stay posted! (I guess there is a slight pun intended there)

The view out from our apartment. The rain cleared away the smog wonderfully!

Katherine's dress is beautiful. So, no picture of the new suits? You're going to make us wait until a tournament, aren't you?
